The Hambrough Restaurant

What menus do you have?
We offer an A la Carte Menu at £45 per person and a Tasting Menu at £55 per person. Our Lunch Menu is £25 per person for 2 courses or £29 for 3 courses. Traditional Afternoon Tea is charged at £20 per person and Champagne Tea at £30.

Please be advised that for parties of 6 and over, there will be either The Tasting menu or a reduced A la Carte menu available. There will also be a 10% service charged applied to the final bill.

How far in advance are bookings taken?
Reservations can be made anytime, our office is open from 8am to 6pm, 7 days a week.

What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask that should you wish to cancel your booking, you do so 48 hours in advance, thereafter, a charge of £15 per person for Lunch or £30 per person for Dinner will be applied. A charge of £25 per person for Lunch or £55 per person for Dinner will be payable should you fail to arrive.

What happens after the table is booked?
All reservations will need to be guaranteed with a debit or credit card. Once a booking has been made, we will email a confirmation letter to you with your booking details and our terms and conditions. No charges will be applied unless in the event of a late cancellation. No charges will be applied unless in the event of a late cancellation.

What is the dress code for the Restaurant?
Smart casual, no sports-wear please.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

We cater for all dietary requirements and allergies, we kindly request that you advise us of these upon making a booking.

Can you arrange something special for a birthday or anniversary?
Our Pastry Chef would be delighted to create a celebratory cake for you and your guests, prices are available on request.

Our Private Dining Room is ideal for small parties and our events team is available to assist you with your arrangements if desired.

Do you sell Gift Vouchers?
Gift vouchers are available and can be personalized to your requirements.

Do you have parking?
Unfortunately we currently do not have our own car park however, parking is available on Hambrough Road. Alternatively there are a few parking spaces at our sister property the Winter Gardens which may be used by Hambrough guests.

Are children allowed in the restaurant?

Children are welcome in our private Garden Room, however not in the main restaurant. We can provide highchairs if needed. We politely ask that your children are well behaved and are supervised at all times.

Do you have a children’s menu?                                                                                                                                                                                                       We do not have a specific We have no set children’s menu, however, our head chef will do his utmost to accommodate your child’s requirements.

Do you have access for wheelchairs and bathroom facilities for wheelchair users?
Unfortunately we do not have access for wheelchairs at this time, however, we are currently working on improving this facility.

The Pond Cafe Restaurant

What do you serve?
The Pond Cafe serves modern rustic Italian food.  A set menu is available during lunch and between 6 and 7:30pm, the A la carte menu is served also during lunch and in the evening from 6pm up to 9:30pm.

How far in advance are bookings taken?
You can book a table at any time by calling 01983 855666.

What is your cancellation policy?
We kindly ask that should you wish to cancel your booking, you do so 24 hours in advance.

What is the dress code for The Pond Cafe?
We do not have a dress code policy as such, however we do kindly ask that sports wear is not worn during an evening service.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

Our chef takes great pride in ensuring that, whatever the dietary requirement, the menu can be adapted with prior notice given.

Do you sell gift vouchers?
Gift vouchers are available and  can be purchased by calling in or telephoning 01983 855666.

Do you have parking?
Unfortunately we do not have our own car park, however there is parking on Bonchurch Village Road.

Are children allowed in the restaurant?
Children are more than welcome and we provide highchairs if required. We politely ask that your children be properly supervised as not to disrupt other guests.

Do you have a children’s menu?
Unfortunately a Children’s menu is not available, however the chef will to adapt the menu where possible to accommodate your child’s requirements.

Do you have access for wheelchairs and bathroom facilities for wheelchair users?
Access is limited for wheelchair users. Please advise our reservations team prior to your arrival and we will do our utmost to plan for your visit.

The Hambrough Rooms

What are the different rooms available?
We have 7 boutique rooms  with two being optional twin rooms (Room 3 and 7). Rooms 1 & 2 are Studio Suites with balconies overlooking the sea where you can enjoy breakfast each morning or enjoy a glass of champagne. Rooms 4 & 5 are luxury rooms offering spectacular views of the sea with plenty of lounge space to relax. Room 4 boasts a large bath overlooking the sea. Rooms 3,  6 & 7 are executive rooms with Rooms 3 & 7 offering views of the Sea and St Boniface Downs with lounge areas to relax. Room 6 is a comfortable room with views of St Boniface Downs.

We also have a 5 bedroom, fully equipped self-catering town-house, Villa Lavinia. Perfect for week long holidays  for groups or families. The accommodation consists of four double rooms and one twin room, there are two bathrooms and a seperate wc, a large kitchen and  lounge area. The Villa also has a delightful private garden.

The Villa Apartment, situated below Villa Lavinia, is  also a fully equipped, self-catering establishment. It is suitable for a family of three or four and comprises of a double and  single room with the capacity for an additional single bed, if required. There is a kitchen with a dining and lounge area. Outside, a patio area for play and relaxation.

We are bringing children, what are the best rooms?

We welcome families. The suitable rooms are 1 and 2; which benefit from large spaces and fold out sofa beds (please note that they can sleep up to four (2 adults and 2 small children), Room 3; is a twin room, can be used to accommodate children should you wish to have separate rooms, alternatively Room 5 also has a fold-out sofa bed and again can also sleep up to 4 (2 adults + 2 small children).

Do you have any ground floor bedrooms?
We do not have any ground floor rooms.

How can I book?
You can book by either calling our dedicated team on 01983 856333 or emailing info@thehambrough.com. Please be aware that card details are required to secure the reservation.

What time can I check in?

Check-in is between 3 and 6pm at The Hambrough and for Villa Lavinia, between 4 and 6pm. If however, you believe that your arrival will be a little earlier or later, we kindly ask that you inform us when making your reservation.

When do I need to check out?
Check-out is 11am for The Hambrough and 10am for Villa Lavinia and the Villa Apartment.

Can I store my luggage if I arrive early?
Occasionally, our guests arrive early and we are more than happy to store your luggage and ensure that it is delivered to your room when you are able to check in. This gives you freedom to enjoy Ventnor, maybe even lunch at The Pond Café in the nearby picturesque village of Bonchurch.

Do you have a lift?
We do not have a lift as The Hambrough is an old Victorian building, however we are willing to assist in anyway possible.

What is your cancellation policy?

We will charge 50% of the room rate; if we are unable to re-let the room, 7 days prior to arrival.

A charge 90% of the room rate will be applied; if we are unable to re-let the room; 24 hours before arrival.

100% will be taken of the total room rate, should a cancellation be made on the day of arrival or if you fail to arrive at all.

For Villa Lavinia

Are there any charges for extra people in the room?
Our rooms prices are based on 2 people therefore any extra people are subject to supplements.
Children under 3 are FREE
Children over 3 and up to 10 – £15 per person, per night
Anyone 10 years and above – £30 per person, per night

Do you accept pets?
Unfortunately The Hambrough does not accept pets however, our Villa Apartment accepts small, well behaved dogs.

Can I bring my own wine to my room?
There is currently no corkage fee payable for wine or champagne that you have brought with you.

How can I change my booking?
Changes are permitted up to 48 hours to your arrival subject to availability. Please advise us by calling 01983 856333 or email info@thehambrough.com

How do I get to the hotel by public transport?
We are located on the sea front in Ventnor. You can connect from any ferry terminal to the Newport bus station by any of the Southern Vectis buses available, and then proceed by the number 3 or 6 bus to Ventnor. This will take you into the high street outside Boots. Head to the esplanade and before you get to the Winter Gardens turn right into Hambrough Road, we are just on the right hand side. Alternatively, we can arrange a taxi for you with prior notice.

Are there any Wifi Facilities?
We have Free Wifi connection available in all rooms and the Villa Lavinia.

Where is Breakfast served?
Breakfast is served in the restaurant from 8 to 10am. There is a continental buffet and fully cooked breakfast of your choice. Alternatively,  you can order room service and our team will be more than happy to accommodate your request.
